In brief // A fragrant expression of visiting Church as a child with my Grandmother[s].  My Grandmother[s] getting ready.  Their best clothes pulled from the closet.  Leather handbags tucked underarm, lollies inside for me.  Their perfume - heavy, floral, moss.  Modern then.  Vintage now.  The Church itself.  Stained glass.  Warm inside, glowing, almost.  Smoke rising from the tips of beeswax candles.  One is doing that flickering thing - weird when it does that.  Icons.  Where’s mine?  Communion. Sweet taste.  Bread clutched in my hand.  Polished wooden pews.  Some newer than others.  Eyes heavy.  Tired now.

A note from us // With LISIA, we wanted to create something nostalgic, experiential and atmospheric - capturing the fragrant elements of an Orthodox Church, but filtered through eyes of a child [mine - many years ago].  Why?  We experience things differently as children.  In Church, we are perhaps less focussed on the Mass itself and more on our surroundings.  We notice things.  Small things. Things we may not have consciously clocked in the moment, but which have, nonetheless left an impression on us.  I thought back to my visits as a child; what did I notice?  LISIA sets out to unlock these impressions again.
